I found this site very interesting for Redhat. I have a few doubts regarding RHEL 7 about exams and syllabus.
1). Is RHCSA syllabus the same for RHEL 7 as on RHEL 6? What about exam format and duration
2). I find RHCE syllabus changed is it minor or a vast…what about commands?
3). Is taking RHCSA / RHCE on RHEL 7 good now itself. As they have just released the RHEL 7 few days ago…
My company uses cent os 6 so i thought of gaining knowledge and certification on same. But only after joining fortraining i found its RHEL 7 and have some changes. Please help…URGENT !
1) RHCSA syllabus for RHEL 7 is not very different from RHEL 6 (http://www.certdepot.net/rhel7-rhcsa-whats-new/).
2) Conversely, changes in RHCE syllabus for RHEL 7 are big: it’s now 3.5 hours and you’ve got a lot of new topics with an emphasis on Kerberos (http://www.certdepot.net/rhel7-rhce-whats-new/).
3) RHEL 7 was released in June. If few companies have started migrations, the RHEL 7 exams exist and it will not be possible to take RHEL 6 exams after February 2015. Concerning available materials, they are still limited even though books will be released around June.
Dear Cert depot…
Your site is interesting…! I would like to know few more about …I have joined for a coaching only after that i am aware that rhel 7 rhce comes with a vast lot of syllabus and comes with different commands than 6. So is it good if I take course now or later as option as no books are available though…If i purchase the book now will the coupon behind it have a validity that i should take exam before that expires…..or is it required to wait till books like michal jang is released… Since its too early will companies accept a candidate with RHEL 7 for vacancies..any chance…
I advise you to wait until March 2015: there will be at least one or two books available for RHEL 7 and more information about the RHCE 7 exam than now. Furthermore, I don’t think a lot of companies have got plans to move to RHEL 7 for the time being. Most of them are still waiting.
I wonder if the Kerberos and other ID management-related tasks can be completed with the IPA tools on the exams. i.e. ipa-server-install sets up multiple things to use with IPA, NSS (no TLS), etc.
This is a good question and I haven’t got the answer!
Is there a way to see a list of your Tasks of the Day?
Thank you for an amazing site of information. it has helped me learning for this exam in so many ways.
To display a list of the Tasks of the Day, I would need to write some php scripts.
Until now, I haven’t done that. Sorry.
As you are the second person to ask for that, I’m going to think seriously about it.
Maybe quick recipe about kickstart installation. Even if I have got a few years of experience in RHEL administration, I always have to remember the options like ks= or inst.ks= , start from USB or PXE etc.:)
Yes, it’s a good idea. I have to think about it and gather articles about this topic.
