Future-Proofing Our Tech Stack

ISACA operates with a digital-first mindset. Soon, we will have the technological infrastructure in place to fully execute on that mentality.

I am excited to report we are nearing a milestone that will provide numerous benefits to our professional community and better position ISACA for long-term success. First, though, comes a bit of necessary bumpiness. As we have communicated in recent weeks, as part of our imminent transition to a new association management system, the ISACA website will be offline from 9-13 September. During that time:

  • The website will not be accessible.
  • No certification exams can be taken.
  • There will be no access to digital products, such as online courses, ebooks and exam prep materials.
  • Member-only functionality on some chapter websites (i.e., chapter sites that render on engage.isaca.org) will be unavailable (through 30 September).
  • ISACA’s Engage platform, including the online communities and the ability to apply for volunteer opportunities, will be unavailable (through 30 September).
  • ISACA’s customer experience team will not have access to members’ information or transaction histories, so customer support will temporarily be limited.

Once we work through the short-term pain, this modernized platform – based on the Salesforce ecosystem – will be a transformative step forward in modernizing our technological capabilities. This will include a smoother e-commerce experience for our website visitors, improved scalability for chapters, ATOs and partners based on new features we will be able to deploy, and the ability for us to better serve our community’s needs by leveraging more insightful data reflecting the holistic customer experience. Our big-picture goal is to future-proof our technology stack and decompose monoliths from the past (our previous association management system has been in place for 20 years … you can imagine how much has changed in the technology realm during that span). Our new capabilities will allow us to react more nimbly to our community’s needs as we pour a sturdier foundation on which to iterate and integrate new features.

As I mentioned in a recent LinkedIn Live session, there are so many technological trends to consider in a successful digital transformation – data curation, operational innovation, cloud capabilities, infrastructure utility and many more – all while remaining mindful of putting in place the needed security and privacy parameters. Ultimately, though, digital transformation is about people, above and beyond processes and technology. That is why I am so enthused about this project. In the long run, it will make a difference to each of you by allowing ISACA to operate more effectively in delivering the resources that you rely upon to reach your professional goals and be part of a modern, world-class learning community.

We will continue communicating about these changes in the weeks and months to come, and we encourage your feedback as we head down this path together. A feedback form offering the opportunity to leave detailed input will be available soon on support.isaca.org. We are always listening and will look to incorporate your input as we strive to deliver the best possible experience to our community, while remaining mindful that even change for the better is often accompanied by a degree of discomfort.
