New Resource Illustrates Synergies Between ITIL 4 and COBIT 2019

Organizations looking to create value for their stakeholders can implement frameworks as effective tools for building structures, organizing thoughts, planning events and architecting businesses. A new free white paper from Axelos and ISACA discusses two frameworks, ITIL 4 and COBIT 2019, and how they complement each other, upending the misperception that enterprises can only select one framework to implement. Using ITIL® 4 and COBIT® 2019 to Create an Integrated I&T Framework Environment outlines how each framework has evolved and illustrates the synergies that exist between the two.

This resource distinguishes the ITIL 4 and COBIT 2019 frameworks from one another and examines how they can work together. Though the frameworks have different purposes and unique starting points, there is an overlap in their relationship that creates synergies when used together.

In Using ITIL 4 and COBIT 2019 to Create an Integrated I&T Framework Environment, professionals can learn how ITIL 4 practices map to COBIT 2019 objectives, and how ITIL 4 practices and COBIT 2019 processes align. The paper also details the underlying dimensions (ITIL) and components (COBIT) of the framework models, such as partners, suppliers, value streams and processes, which enable a holistic approach to framework adoption and provide critical support to value-creating activities. The dimensions and components should be considered by organizations as complete lists, instead of only considering one or two.

The white paper also provides an overview of the guiding principles, governance and management objectives, and elements of continuous improvement related to each framework.
