Striking the right balance is one of the central challenges ISACA members encounter in their daily work.
For example, business leaders are eager to implement emerging technologies, yet ISACA professionals have to assess and mitigate the related risks to make sure their organizations are getting the most from these opportunities. These push-and-pull tensions are commonplace throughout the technology disciplines in which ISACA members operate, and the balancing act becomes all the more challenging given the unprecedented velocity with which technology is pushing businesses to evolve.
My first months as ISACA CEO have helped me relate to the imperative of balancing moving quickly with the need to do so strategically. Encouragingly, we are on the path to being able to do both – even if it requires a bit of patience to get there.
As I mentioned in a previous blog post, I’ve dedicated my first months on the job to listening, analyzing and preparing. These ongoing conversations with chapter leaders, members, customers and staff are helping me develop an action plan so we can quickly begin to set our future in motion. As a leadership team, we are closely examining the direction we’re heading and making sure we’re in full alignment with what our members need most – and positioned to meet those needs at full speed. As part of that alignment, we’ve made some organizational changes necessary to create the capital to invest back into the membership and customers through technology, product and the ISACA team. We’re getting laser-focused on the products, programs and resources our members and customers need and want.
In the near future, I look forward to sharing a compelling vision and strategy capable of taking ISACA to new heights. While the details will come into sharper focus soon, at a high level, we want to focus on innovating resources that empower our members and customers and address the need to quickly respond to changes in the marketplace. The rapid ascent of artificial intelligence highlights the pace we need to operate at and the speed at which technologies are disrupting business models. We need to develop intuitive products and invest resources to help you understand and navigate your challenges and opportunities better than anyone else.
Thanks to you, we are well on our way to becoming an even more impactful community. Your input is providing the insights and inspiration we need to chart this new path forward. I have learned so much from recent opportunities to connect with members and chapters in multiple countries, and I look forward to spending time with more of you in October at Digital Trust World in Dublin. These interactions are so valuable in discovering what is most top-of-mind for our members and how we can support our incredible chapter network that provides pathways to build a high-impact local network, pursue leadership opportunities and connect to new career opportunities.
It is energizing to see the next era of ISACA taking shape – one that will build on a proud foundation. ISACA has provided great value for our community during its 50-plus year history. As the stakes continue to rise in your roles in this technology-driven landscape, we feel the same urgency to be at our best to equip our professional community for success.
