I have faced many challenges in my career in project management when implementing technology projects, including the last couple of years working on implementations of cybersecurity frameworks, standards and regulatory requirements to achieve good IT governance. The implementation of cybersecurity frameworks can be especially challenging, but when I observe the achievement after implementation, it is a great feeling. There are many projects for which I did not have prior experience, but if you work hard and learn quickly, there is so much that can be accomplished.

My primary interest is in learning new things, which is more important than ever today. During my career, I have not stayed focused on specific technologies for long periods of time, but I have maintained an overarching interest in information systems security, governance, risk, compliance and vulnerability and penetration testing.

In Bangladesh, we are in good shape regarding digital transformation in terms of public and commercial organizations. We now need to work on resource and risk optimization and benefit realization from digital transformation, along with information security assurance. In this stage, we need to concentrate more and more on developing our own homegrown application software, development of information assurance and cybersecurity professionals, and companies that can perform in our own market, as well as the international market.

ISACA can be a part of moving these priorities forward. I am passionate about volunteering through ISACA. It is very helpful to create assurance leadership around the globe and help members to think about the skills that are required and how they can achieve those skills by participating in the ISACA community. In addition, volunteering helps develop my leadership qualities, and it is great to build the number of certified professionals in Bangladesh. I would like to express my appreciation for Mr. AKM Nazrul Haider, immediate past president of the ISACA Dhaka Chapter, who served the chapter for a long period of time in different capacities and inspired many of us to make business leaders aware of the necessity of fields such as IT audit and information security.

This has been an unusual year, but rewarding in many ways. I have worked from home more this year due to the pandemic, which has been a great opportunity to spend more quality time with my daughter and my nephews. And as always, I still enjoy talking to friends and colleagues who are interested in discussing and learning about the profession, because there are always new technologies and new ideas to explore.
