Dublin–ISACA, a global professional association dedicated to helping individuals and organizations achieve digital trust, has reinforced its dedication to addressing the critical digital skills shortage in Europe by joining the EU Pact for Skills.

The EU Pact for Skills, a key initiative of the European Commission under the European Skills Agenda, supports public and private organizations in upskilling and reskilling efforts essential for thriving during green and digital transitions. ISACA’s participation in this pact underscores its critical role in providing digital skills to European individuals and businesses to safely and effectively seize the opportunities offered by the Union’s digital transformation. .

"We recognize the significant challenges faced by the European public and private sectors in enhancing their competitiveness, operating safely, and keeping pace with digital developments. Our State of Digital Trust report reveals that 50% of organizations cite a lack of skills and training as the top obstacle to achieving digital trust," said Chris Dimitriadis, Chief Global Strategy Officer at ISACA. "Our involvement in the EU Pact for Skills demonstrates ISACA’s resolve to tackle skill shortage issues surrounding digital skills and ensure the development of a resilient IT workforce for the future."

ISACA’s Commitment to the EU Pact for Skills

As part of its commitment, ISACA pledges to:

  1. Identify skills and training needs by continuously monitoring relevant trends and mapping requirements across various industries.
  2. Update and develop professional certifications and training activities to keep pace with the evolving needs of individuals, businesses, and public administrations.
  3. Strengthen gender equality by promoting its dedicated SheLeadsTech initiative and engaging with female IT professionals and allies to increase diverse representation within the digital and cybersecurity sectors.

Recent EU Initiatives and Achievements

This announcement is the latest in ISACA’s ongoing efforts to address the digital and cybersecurity skills gap in Europe. Last year, ISACA offered 20,000 free memberships for European students to access its network. ISACA has also committed to expanding its training and credentials in Europe, aiming to surpass 46,000 certified individuals for relevant roles recognized by the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework.

ISACA has achieved significant milestones through partnerships and initiatives, including collaborations with the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) and CREST, as well as the SHE@CYBER initiative, which empowers women in the digital and cybersecurity sector.

"ISACA's bold promise is to bridge the cybersecurity skills gap in Europe by equipping professionals with knowledge and skills in digital trust domains," said Dimitriadis. "We believe that empowering the younger generation with these resources will foster a new wave of cybersecurity experts in Europe, ultimately ensuring a more secure digital environment for all."

Through its global expertise and local partnerships, ISACA remains at the forefront of addressing the digital and cybersecurity skills shortage and fostering a more secure digital future for Europe.
