The ISACA Tbilisi Chapter is one of three new chapters the global professional association has introduced this year

Schaumburg, IL, USA—Digital trust professionals have formed a new ISACA chapter in Tbilisi, Georgia. The ISACA Tbilisi Chapter is starting with more than 45 initial members and becomes the 46th chapter in Europe and first chapter in Georgia. ISACA, a global technology association serving more than 180,000 members in 188 countries in digital trust professions, now has 228 chapters.

This moment feels especially momentous for the chapter, as they note that they submitted their first request to establish the ISACA chapter in Georgia almost a decade ago, and requirements to receive chapter formation approval were achieved this year.

“It was a long way, understandably, from when we first started communicating with ISACA regarding chapter opportunities,” said David Shavgulidze, ISACA Tbilisi Chapter Vice President. “However, we believed that if we continued our pursuit, one day we would make our dream come true.”

Officers of the ISACA Tbilisi Chapter include:

  • President – Irakli Lomidze
  • Vice President, Secretary – Davit Shavgulidze
  • Treasurer – Mariam Magradze
  • Membership Director – Ivane Javrishvili
  • Program Chair – Irakli Gagoshidze
  • Education Chair – Girshel Chokhonelidze
  • Research Liaison – Giorgi Gurgenidze

One of the key objectives for the ISACA Tbilisi Chapter is European Union (EU) harmonization. Georgia is on its ways to EU membership, and the Tbilisi Chapter is going to work in several areas to assist in this process. With the chapter’s knowledge and expertise, combined with ISACA resources, the Tbilisi Chapter would like to assist Georgian efforts in EU IT and cyber legislation harmonization.

ISACA provides credentialing, education, guidance and community for digital trust professionals in areas including IT security, assurance, risk, governance, and privacy that will also benefit the local business community, government and universities. The association also offers frameworks including COBIT, the Digital Trust Ecosystem Framework, and CMMI.
