ISACA Welcomes First Chapter in Honduras

Global business technology association now has 225 chapters around the world with the addition of chapter in Tegucigalpa

Schaumburg, IL, USA – As roles in governance, risk, compliance and security professionals grow in importance in an evolving tech landscape, business technology professionals in Honduras have formed a new chapter of ISACA — the global technology association’s first ever in the country. The ISACA Tegucigalpa Chapter is starting with more than 65 initial members and becomes the 24th chapter in Latin America. ISACA, which serves more than 145,000 members in 188 countries in the IT cybersecurity, audit, risk and governance professions, now has 225 chapters in 98 countries.

“The new chapter will encourage and promote open exchange of IT governance, IS audit, cybersecurity control and assurance techniques, approaches, and problem solving by its members,” said Alfonso Alfonso Pineda, ISACA Tegucigalpa Chapter president. “The goals of the chapter focus on areas of leadership and helping share the knowledge and skills of its members in the interrelated fields of IT.”

ISACA provides credentialing, education, guidance and community for IT security, assurance, risk and governance professionals that will also benefit the local business community, government and universities. The association also offers Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX), which addresses the global cybersecurity skills shortage and helps organizations develop strong cybersecurity workforces, as well as COBIT, a business framework that helps organizations govern and manage their information and technology.

The ISACA Tegucigalpa Chapter will offer members both educational and networking opportunities, including training and skills-development sessions, as well as networking and social events. Additionally, the chapter plans to keep members up-to-date on current events in IT governance, IS audit, cybersecurity, privacy, control and assurance than can benefit them and their employers, in addition to communicating to local management, auditors, universities, and IS professionals the importance of establishing controls necessary to ensure proper IT governance and the effective organization and utilization of IT resources.
